Saved a picture from a website and got a .webp file that nothing will open? This WebP to JPG converter changes it into a standard JPEG in your browser, without uploading it anywhere. Convert one image or a whole folder, then download the JPGs.

How to convert WebP to JPG

  1. Add the WebP images

Drop .webp files onto the box, paste an image you copied from a web page, or click "Choose files".

  2. Pick a quality (optional)

The default 90% quality suits almost everything. Transparent areas are filled with white unless you choose another colour.

  3. Download your JPGs

Each JPG keeps its original name. Download them individually or all together as a ZIP.

What is a WebP file?

WebP is an image format created by Google in 2010 to make web pages load faster. A WebP image is typically 25–35% smaller than a JPG of the same visual quality, which is why many websites, online shops and social networks now serve WebP automatically.

When you right-click and save an image from those sites, you often get the .webp file rather than a JPG. Modern browsers display WebP without trouble, but plenty of other software doesn't: older photo viewers, some versions of Microsoft Office, many print services and lots of upload forms that only list "JPG, PNG".

WebP can be lossy or lossless and can include transparency and even animation. This converter handles still WebP images; if a file is animated, the first frame is converted.

Why use OneDropConvert?

  • No upload, no waiting. Images are converted inside your browser, so there's no upload queue and nothing stored on a server.
  • Metadata stripped. Any embedded location or camera details are dropped from the JPG.
  • Transparency handled. See-through areas get a clean background colour of your choice instead of turning black.
  • Batch friendly. Up to 50 files at once, downloadable as a single ZIP.
  • Free, no account needed. 10 conversions a day with no watermark; Pro is unlimited.

Save a WebP image as JPG for forms, printing and Office

The most common reason to change WebP to JPEG is a form that won't take it: job portals, government sites, school systems and marketplace listings often accept JPG and PNG only. Converting takes a few seconds and the JPG looks the same.

Printing is the other big one. Photo kiosks and online print shops expect JPG, and some reject WebP or print it with odd colours. A JPG at 90–95% quality is a safe file to send.

If the image has a transparent background, like a logo, JPG can't keep it. Pick a background colour in Options, or use WebP to PNG to keep the transparency. Want to know more about the format itself? Read what is a WebP file.

FAQ

Is WebP to JPG conversion free?

Yes. You can convert 10 images a day for free, with no sign-up and no watermark. If you need more, the optional Pro plan removes the daily limit.

Will my WebP image lose quality as a JPG?

Both formats are usually lossy, so re-saving can lose a tiny amount of detail. At the default 90% quality the difference isn't visible in normal use. Raise the quality to 95–100% for print.

Why are my JPGs bigger than the WebP files?

WebP compresses more efficiently than JPG, so the same picture needs more bytes as a JPG. A 25–50% increase is normal. Lower the quality slider if size matters.

What happens to a transparent WebP?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour from Options (white by default). Use the WebP to PNG converter if you need to keep them see-through.

Can I convert WebP to JPEG on my phone?

Yes. The converter works in mobile Safari and Chrome. Tap "Choose images", select the files, and save the results.

Is JPG the same as JPEG?

Yes. JPG and JPEG are the same format; the shorter extension dates back to older Windows systems that allowed only three letters.
