Need specific pixel dimensions too? Resize image
Need to compress an image to 100KB for an upload form? Pick the limit, drop in your photo, and this tool finds the sharpest version that fits under it, automatically. It also handles 20 KB, 50 KB, 200 KB and custom sizes, and it never uploads your photos.
Compress image to 100KB in three steps
Choose the size limit
Pick 20, 50, 100 or 200 KB, or choose Custom and type the number from your form's instructions.
Add your photo
Drop the JPG, PNG or WebP file onto the box, or tap "Choose photos". It is compressed straight away.
Download and upload
Check the new size on the row, then download. The file keeps its format and name.
How does compressing to a target size work?
Most compressors ask you for a quality number and leave you to guess the result. That's frustrating when a form says "maximum 100 KB" and rejects anything bigger.
This tool works the other way round. It tries the image at different quality levels, measures each result, and narrows in on the highest quality that still fits under your limit, a technique called a binary search. It takes a second or two per photo.
If even the lowest sensible quality is too large, which happens when a big phone photo has to fit into 20 KB, the tool also reduces the pixel dimensions step by step until it fits. The row tells you when that happened and shows the new dimensions, so there are no surprises.
Why use OneDropConvert?

Compress a photo for an online job application or government form
Application portals often set strict limits: a profile photo "under 50 KB", a signature "between 10 and 20 KB", a scanned certificate "no more than 200 KB". These rules exist because older systems store every upload, but they're hard to meet with a 4 MB phone photo.
Here's the quickest route. Crop the photo first if the form wants a specific shape (your phone's editor is fine). Then come back here, choose the limit (or Custom for an odd number like 30 KB), and drop in the photo. Download the result and upload it.
Two tips: choose a limit a little below the maximum (for example 95 KB for a 100 KB rule) because some sites count kilobytes differently, and if the form also specifies pixel dimensions, use resize image first. FAQ
How do I compress a JPG to exactly 100 KB?
Select "100 KB" and add the photo. The tool finds the highest quality that comes in at or just under 100 KB. It won't be exactly 100.0 KB, but it will never be over.
Can I reduce a photo to 50 KB or 20 KB?
Yes. Pick 50 or 20 KB, or enter any custom size. For very small targets the image may also be scaled down so it stays recognisable.
Is 1 KB 1000 or 1024 bytes here?
We use 1 KB = 1024 bytes, which is the stricter reading. A file we make for "100 KB" is at most 102,400 bytes, so it passes either way.
Will my photo look blurry?
At 100–200 KB most photos look fine on screen. At 20 KB some softness is unavoidable. The tool always picks the best quality that fits.
Does it change the image dimensions?
Only if it has to. If the limit can be reached by quality alone, dimensions stay the same. Otherwise the row shows the new size in pixels.
Can I compress a PNG to 100 KB?
Yes. PNGs stay PNG; colours and, if needed, dimensions are reduced to fit. For photos, converting to JPG first gives a sharper result at the same size.
Is it safe for passport and ID photos?
Yes. Photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded to any server.
