This HEIC to JPG converter turns iPhone photos into ordinary JPG files that open on Windows, Android, older Macs and every website. The conversion runs inside your browser, so your photos are never uploaded, and you can convert a whole batch at once.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Add your HEIC photos

Drop the .heic files onto the box above, paste them, or tap "Choose photos" to pick them from your library.

  2. Let them convert

Each photo is converted to JPG on your device straight away. The default 90% quality keeps detail while keeping files small.

  3. Download the JPGs

Save each photo with its Download button, or use "Download all (ZIP)" to get every JPG in one file.

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default. The name comes from HEIF, the High Efficiency Image File Format, and the "C" points to the HEVC (H.265) compression inside it. Apple switched to it in iOS 11 in 2017 because it stores a photo in roughly half the space of a JPG at similar quality.

A HEIC file can also hold extras that a JPG can't: depth data for Portrait mode, several frames for bursts and Live Photos, and wider colour. That's why a single .heic file sometimes looks bigger than you'd expect.

The catch is compatibility. Windows needs extra codecs to open HEIC, many Android galleries and photo printers don't read it, and plenty of upload forms reject it outright. JPG has none of those problems, which is why converting is the quickest fix.

Why use OneDropConvert?

  • Nothing is uploaded. Your photos are converted by your own browser, so private pictures stay on your phone or computer.
  • Location data is removed. The JPGs we create don't carry the GPS coordinates your iPhone embedded in the original.
  • Photos stay upright. We respect the orientation your camera recorded, so nothing comes out sideways.
  • Batch conversion. Add up to 50 photos at a time and download them together as a ZIP.
  • No watermark, no sign-up. Convert 10 photos a day free, or go Pro for unlimited conversions.

Convert HEIC to JPG on Windows

Windows 10 and 11 don't open HEIC photos out of the box. Microsoft's fix is two Store add-ons: "HEIF Image Extensions" (free) and "HEVC Video Extensions" (a small paid download). Even with both installed, apps like older versions of Office, email clients and web uploaders may still refuse the files.

Converting is simpler. Copy the photos from your iPhone to your PC, open this page in Edge or Chrome, and drop the whole folder of .heic files onto the converter. You get standard .jpg files with the same names, ready to open in Photos, attach to an email or upload anywhere.

If you'd rather avoid HEIC in future, you can set your iPhone to shoot in JPG instead. Our guide how to stop your iPhone saving photos as HEIC shows the setting, and why HEIC photos won't open on Windows covers the other fixes.

FAQ

Is it safe to convert HEIC to JPG here?

Yes. The converter runs entirely in your browser using code downloaded with this page. Your photos are never sent to a server. The site's security settings only allow our own server and, if you accept analytics, Google Analytics, and neither ever receives your photos.

Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

Slightly, because JPG uses older compression. At the default 90% quality the difference is very hard to see, but the JPG will usually be larger than the HEIC. Lower the quality in Options if you need smaller files.

Why won't HEIC photos open on Windows?

Windows needs the HEIF and HEVC codecs from the Microsoft Store to read HEIC, and many apps don't use them even when they're installed. Converting to JPG avoids the problem entirely.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 photos per batch. They convert in parallel, and "Download all (ZIP)" saves them in one go.

What happens to Live Photos and bursts?

A HEIC file from a Live Photo or burst can contain several images. We convert the main (primary) image, which is the one your Photos app shows.

Does the JPG keep my photo's location and camera details?

No. The new JPG contains only the image. GPS location, camera model and other metadata are removed, which is safer for sharing online.

Can I convert HEIC to JPG on my iPhone?

Yes. Open this page in Safari, tap "Choose photos", select pictures from your library and download the JPGs to Files. You can also tell the iPhone to export JPGs by choosing "Most Compatible" in Settings › Camera › Formats.
